Yantai University is two universities. Yantai University is a provincial key comprehensive university that was born at the beginning of reform and opening up. The school was established in July, 1984. Under the cordial care of Wan Li, the former acting prime minister of the State Council, it was aided by Peking University and Tsinghua University.

The school covers an area of 2 100 mu, with a building area of 1.0 1.98 million square meters, and the total value of teaching and research instruments and equipment is 5 1.2 million yuan. At present, the Science and Education Park of Yantai University has started construction in Yantai Development Zone with a planned area of 1.200 mu and a planned construction area of 670,000 square meters.

The school now has three undergraduate majors: cooperation with universities in the United States, South Korea and Italy and cooperation with universities in the United States, Britain, Germany, Switzerland, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea and Taiwan Province Province of China.

Forty-four sister colleges and universities carry out inter-school student exchange programs with British parks.
