During the Anti-Japanese War, a training course for postal personnel was held at the original site of the General Post Office of the Ministry of Communications; On this basis, Southwest Post and Telecommunications Sub-office, chongqing post and telecommunications School and Chongqing Telecom School were successively held. From 65438 to 0959, the State Council approved the establishment of Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications and began undergraduate education; 1965 became one of the 10 universities in Sichuan province to recruit graduate students at that time.
1970 was transformed into the No.529 factory of the General Administration of Telecommunications, 1973 was transformed into the Ninth Research Institute of the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, and 1979 resumed work. In 2000, it was placed under the management of Chongqing from the Ministry of Information Industry and jointly built by the Ministry and the city. In 2006, it was renamed Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications; 20 13 years approved doctoral degree awarding unit.
