Anqing Normal University is an undergraduate comprehensive normal university, located in Anqing City, Anhui Province, China. Founded in 1978, the school is a "national basic education teacher training reform pilot" by the Ministry of Education and the Anhui Provincial Government, as well as a "model university for collaborative education of basic education in the central and western regions", "national advanced university for ideological and political work", "pilot university for postgraduate education reform in Anhui Province" and "double-first-class" high-level applied college with characteristics in Anhui Province.
The school covers an area of 1.628 mu, with a building area of 877,000 square meters. There are 54 undergraduate majors, covering six disciplines: science, engineering, literature, management, law and teaching. There are more than 20,000 undergraduates and 0.7 million postgraduates, including about 500 international students from 60 countries and regions.
A-type undergraduate colleges and A-type undergraduate majors are two concepts. A-class undergraduate colleges are the highest among the four grades of undergraduate colleges classified by the Ministry of Education, while A-class undergraduate majors refer to the majors with the highest professional quality and excellent comprehensive ability training in the catalogue of undergraduate majors. Therefore, although Anqing Normal University is not a class A undergraduate college in the four grades of undergraduate colleges divided by the Ministry of Education, its class A undergraduate major also shows that it has certain guarantee and level in the quality of education.
