Xidian university, referred to as "Xidian", is located in Xi City, Shaanxi Province. It is a university directly under the central government and directly under the Ministry of Education. It is a national key university. It was built by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the State Bureau of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense and China Electronics Technology Corporation. It is one of the earliest two key military academies of national defense industry in China and one of the graduate schools approved by the Ministry of Education. The school was formerly the Broadcasting School of the Central Military Commission, 193 1 was born in Ruijin, Jiangxi. It has experienced such historical periods as Radio School of the Central Military Commission, Telecommunication Engineering College of North China Military Region, Engineering School of China People's Revolutionary Military Commission and Communication Engineering College of China People's Liberation Army. 1958 moved to Xi 'an.
1966, transformed into a local organizational system and renamed Northwest Institute of Telecommunications Engineering; 1988 changed its name to xidian university. The school has been subordinate to the Central Military Commission, the National Defense Science, Technology and Industry Committee, the Sixth Machinery Department, the Fourth Machinery Department, the Ministry of Electronics Industry, the Ministry of Machinery and Electronics, and the Ministry of Information Industry, and was placed under the management of the Ministry of Education in 2000.
As of May 2023, the school has two campuses, the south campus and the north campus, with a total area of 3,945.33 mu and a building area of 1.4233 million square meters. There are 26 secondary teaching and research institutions and 66 undergraduate majors; There are 15 postdoctoral research stations and 15 first-class disciplines authorized by doctoral degrees.
27 master's degrees authorize first-level disciplines; More than 2,600 full-time teachers and 3 academicians of the two academies; There are 37,837 full-time students, including 22,438 undergraduates, 65,438 master students and 02,666 doctoral students.
