Xiamen Island is small, so you can spend a day or two to quickly feel the changes of Xiamen's history and the lively fragrance of today. Not only will big-name scenic spots be included in the camera frame, but you can also enjoy the beautiful scenery of coconut shadows on the beach, and at the same time, you can also participate in the most popular life and feel the local culture and food. As for how wide and deep your steps can measure, it depends on your physical strength.
The following trip may be a bit hasty. If you prefer to have fun, you can move the cycling around the island road to the next day, throw the rest of the time in the old villa cafe or take a snack exploration trip.
Buses and Zhongshan Road feel the well gas in old Xiamen in the morning and start their journey. If you are willing to get up early, the eighth market will wake up before 7 am. Xiamen has the most authentic street life and the freshest and diverse seafood. You can come here to watch the lively morning market and wake up the taste buds with some authentic snacks that locals also like to eat.
Then, go to Zhongshan Road not far away. Before people pour in, you can enjoy the beautiful arcades and ancient buildings nearby. This area is also the gathering place of many authentic snacks and famous time-honored brands in Xiamen. Remember to eat three points full, and don't feed yourself at one time.
Practical information
There are many specialty stores on Zhongshan Road. If you don't pay much attention to packaging, I suggest you go through two blocks to buy handwritten letters at Ajizai Pie Shop, which is recognized as an old brand by Xiamen people.
8 th market
The Eighth Market, built in the 1920s and 1930s, is one of the nine major farmers' markets in Xiamen. With the change of time, other markets may disappear or shrink, and only the eight cities have always been lively and evolved into the representative of the old Xiamen market.
Today's so-called "eight markets" include the open-air market from Kaihe Road to Kaiyuan Road and the indoor cross-shaped market.
The Jizhi Department Store on Kaiyuan Road is the entrance that I just visited, so crossing the road into Ba Shi is like walking into an open-air museum to observe the life in the old city of Xiamen. Before 7 am, the booth was crowded with shrimp, soldiers, crabs, rare wild sharks and huge deep-sea fish.
In the evening, the sunset shines on the arcade with mottled walls. Xiamen people who just got off work are also used to taking a handful of fresh vegetables to Bashi, strolling in front of fruit stalls filled with lychee, mangosteen and mango, or packing some authentic snacks to satisfy their desires. Bargaining in Minnan dialect can always get more discounts.
Xiamen University and Xiamen University, which are surrounded by mountains and facing the sea, are only open at fixed times, so the visit must be scheduled. If it's still early, you can visit the dream rainforest and children's cactus in Xiamen Garden and Botanical Garden next to the campus, or climb the Wulong Peak in the garden to overlook Xiamen Island. Remember to return to the campus of Xiamen University during the registration period, stroll and admire Jiageng architecture, and reminisce about youth.
Practical information
Visitors to Xiamen University are open for a limited time, only from Monday to Friday 12:30 to 14:00, and all day on weekends, holidays, winter and summer vacations. You need to make an online appointment through the micro signal "U Xiamen University" in advance.
Xiamen University
"Surrounded by mountains and seas" is perfect for Xiamen University. The campus of Xiamen University is backed by the rolling Five Old Peaks and faces the blue waters of Xiamen Bay. The air is full of salty sea breeze, and the whistle of fishing boats can be heard in the morning. The beautiful environment makes it "the most beautiful campus in China" in many people's minds.
Xiamen University occupies a large area, so it will take about 2 to 3 hours even for sightseeing. In order to avoid affecting teaching, Xiamen University has taken measures to limit the flow of tourists. Visitors need to make an online reservation through WeChat (opened three days ago) in advance, and enter the campus at the designated time through South Gate or Qunxian Gate (West Gate) with their ID cards.
Riding the island road from the Baicheng school gate of Xiamen University is the beach. Rent a bicycle, start riding along the beautiful island road and enjoy the beach and sea breeze in the afternoon. You can stop at Zengcuo on the way. This small fishing village is now a new field for young artists. Huangcuo Beach is one of the most natural and clean beaches on the highway around the island.
Practical information
In addition to enjoying the convenience of cycling, there are bicycle rental booths along the Huandao Road, including bicycles, two cars and three cars. The price starts from 30 yuan/hour/person. If you rent a car from private mobile stalls near Baicheng and Zengcuo _, remember to bargain.
Huangcuo Beach
Huangcuo Beach is probably the cleanest beach on the road around the island at present. Compared with Baicheng and Zengcuo, Huangcuo Beach is less lively and more quiet. You can walk along the bicycle lane near the beach for a while and visit the big placard of "One Country, Two Systems, Uniting China", which is one of the landmark points of the island road and the end point for many people to ride the roundabout.
