Extended data:

QS World University Ranking is an annual world university ranking published by Quacquarelli Symonds, a British international education market consulting company. QS Company and the British newspaper Times Higher Education jointly published the ranking for the first time, which is the second oldest global university ranking, first published in 2004. After 2009, QS and Times Higher Education terminated their cooperation and published their respective world university rankings from 20 10. QS Global Education Group usually updates its ranking every summer.

Since 20 10, QS World University Ranking has been recognized by the International Ranking Expert Group initiated by the European Center for Higher Education Research of UNESCO, and the IREG-International Academic Ranking and Excellence Association established by the Institute of Higher Education Policy in Washington, USA and the Institute of Higher Education in Shanghai Jiaotong University. It is one of the most influential rankings with the largest number of participating institutions in the world.

Together with Times Higher Education World University Rankings, USNews World University Rankings and academic ranking of world universities, it is recognized as the most authoritative four world university rankings. QS World University Ranking is rated as one of the most striking university rankings in the world because of its open and transparent questionnaire form, but it is also criticized because of too many subjective indicators and commercialization indicators.

At present, QS ranking has been jointly launched with Elsevier, the world's largest academic publishing group, and now covers nine types, including QS World University Ranking, QS World University Ranking, QS Asian University Ranking, QS Latin American University Ranking, QS BRICS University Ranking, QS Global Top 50 University Ranking (QS Global Young University Ranking), QS Chinese mainland University Ranking, QS Global Best City for Studying Abroad Ranking, and QS Global Graduate Employment Competitiveness Ranking.
