China Geo University (Wuhan) is a 2 1 1 university, but it is not a 985 university. China Geo University is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education, a university approved by the state to set up a graduate school, and a national "2 1 1 project" and "double-class" construction university. The school is located in Wuhan. The school motto is "hard work and plain living, seeking truth and being pragmatic".

China Geo University is a university with earth science as its main feature. As of February 202 1 65438+,the school has two campuses, Nanwangshan and Future City, with a total campus area of 1474353 square meters and a total school building area of 1385752.04 square meters. There are 86 scientific research institutions, laboratories and research institutes (institutes and centers), which are national experimental teaching.

At present, there are 23 colleges, 69 undergraduate majors, 16 first-class doctoral programs, 34 first-class master programs, 15 postdoctoral research stations and 3,369 faculty members.

China University of Geology was founded in 1952, and its predecessor was the Beijing Institute of Geology, which was merged by Peking University, Tsinghua University, Tianjin University and the Geology Department (branch) of Tangshan Railway Institute. 1970 the whole school was moved to Hubei and renamed Hubei Institute of Geology.

1974 The school is located in Wuhan and renamed as Wuhan Institute of Geology. 1987 The former State Education Commission approved the establishment of China Geo University with its headquarters in Wuhan and Beijing. From June 5, 2006 to 10, the Ministry of Education signed an agreement with the former Ministry of Land and Resources to establish China Geo University.
