Overview of the First Vocal Music Department of Sichuan Conservatory of Music
The first head of the Department of Vocal Music was Professor Lang Yu Xiu, a famous vocal educator and singer in China. He has served as a judge of major music competitions at home and abroad for many times and is one of the most respected vocal music authorities in China.

Since the establishment of the vocal music department, nearly 100 faculty members have worked hard in the department. Among the tireless teachers, there are many well-known experts in the industry, such as Lang, Liu,,, and so on, Lan Youqing, the mentor of the famous American singer Fan, Qian Weidao, the mentor of the famous German singer Deng Fengzhao, and Huang Wenyu, the mentor of the famous national vocal singer Tan Xuesheng. After decades of hard work, countless talents have been trained, which has made great contributions to the development of vocal music art in China and even the world.

At present, the head of the department of vocal music is a professor, the deputy heads are Professor Tang and Professor Jiang Daikang, the party branch secretary is an associate professor and the deputy secretary is a teacher. The institutional setup of our department is divided into: department office, bel canto teaching and research section, national vocal music teaching and research section, piano accompaniment and minor piano teaching and research section. The direction of professional teaching and research is bel canto and national vocal music. There are 49 full-time teachers, including 14 with senior title and1person with master's degree. These international students come from the United States, Australia, Italy, Germany, Japan and Russia. Teachers in our department have profound experience in stage performance and rich experience in classroom teaching, and have published dozens of papers in academic magazines at home and abroad. Over the years, more than 300 musicians have won international and domestic vocal music awards, which have achieved remarkable results and won honors for the school. For example, Mr. Tang, Mr. Wu, Mr. Wu and students have made outstanding achievements in China Golden Bell Award, CCTV Youth Song Competition, China International Vocal Music Competition, Japanese Mozart International Music Competition, International Opera Competition, Asian Music and Art Festival, and National Super Girl Competition, which have produced great social effects.

The consistent aim of this department is to take teaching as the center and students' development as the foundation, strengthen supervision, not only provide students with a good learning environment, but also strictly regulate students' daily behavior, so as to make vocal music department one a rigorous education base. Strive to make every student grow into a person with complete personality and independent thinking, and hone himself into an intellectual youth with high professional level and moral quality.

Today, with more and more frequent academic exchanges around the world, our department actively cooperates with well-known music colleges at home and abroad in education. For example, Professor Zhou Xiaoyan, Professor Wen Kezheng, Professor Liao Changyong from Shanghai Conservatory of Music, Professor Jin from China Conservatory of Music and other professors are invited to give lectures. Pay attention to the communication and contact with European and American brother colleges, and hold master class lectures in the college to further improve the teaching quality.

The department adheres to the development strategy of strengthening the school with talents and promoting education through innovation, and manages scientifically to adapt to the overall development direction of Sichuan Conservatory of Music and the goal of establishing Sichuan Conservatory of Music and Art.
