Extended data

The second phase of Metro Line 5 opened to traffic on September 28th:

On August 20 1919, the second phase of Shenzhen Metro Line 5 was in no-load trial operation and is expected to open on September 28. This is not only the first line opened in the second phase of Shenzhen Metro Phase III, but also the first subway line running through Qianhai area. It will realize the direct transfer between Qianhai and Shekou through the docking of Line 2.

After the second phase of the line is opened, the number of stations on Line 5 will increase from 27 to 34. The line starts from the front of the original terminal of Line 5 in the north and ends at Chiwan, the terminal of Line 2 in the south, with a total length of 7.6 kilometers. It is the first line opened in Shenzhen Metro Phase III and Phase II.

The opening of the second phase of the line enables direct transfer between Qianhai and Shekou. Previously, although the distance between Qianhai and Shekou was close in a straight line, the subway commuting time between the two places was longer. At present, Line 5, Phase II, has 7 stops directly to shekou line Line 2, which provides convenience for the citizens.

It is worth noting that there are three transfer stations in the second phase of Line 5. Citizens can change to Line 2 at Chiwan Station, which intersects with shekou line, Line 9 at Qianwan Station and Line 15 planned at Railway Park Station.
