Xiangtan University Library 1974 began to prepare after classes resumed. After more than 30 years of construction, it has developed into a multi-library system including the main library of the school and more than 20 branch libraries of colleges. The school's main and branch libraries have a total construction area of 30,804 square meters, of which the total construction area is 2 1663 square meters. Xiangtan University Library is a member library of China Higher Education Document Guarantee System (CALIS) and an advanced library in China.
The development of history
Xiangtan University Library started construction on 1974, broke ground on 1978, and was completed on198/kloc-0, with an area of 6,563 square meters. The expansion project of the new museum started on August 28th, 1998, and it was opened and put into use in 2000.
The new library is connected with the old library. The main building of the new building has seven floors, with a building area of15000m2. Together with the old library, the total area of the library is 2 1663 square meters. In front of the building is a huge colorful fountain with sloping lawns on both sides. Against the backdrop of green lawns and colorful fountains, the whole building shines brightly and becomes a new landscape of Xiangtan University.
Collection resources
Xiangtan University was founded by Chairman Mao himself, inscribed with his name and kindly entrusted to run well. During its establishment, it received strong support from universities all over the country, and universities in various provinces and cities all over the country actively donated books. Peking University Library proposed that if there are more than two sets of books and materials, one set can be given to Xiangtan University.
Among the books presented by Peking University, there are 23,069 precious ancient books, such as The Collection of Ancient and Modern Books of King James and The Four Great Series. Among them, The Collection of Ancient and Modern Books is a bronze movable type book from Kangxi to Yongzheng in Qing Dynasty. The book is divided into 6 parts, 32 volumes and 6 1 17 volumes. It is the largest book in the world and the largest book in the history of copper movable type printing in China.
Only Hunan University Library has a complete collection of ancient and modern books, which has become the treasure of Hunan University Library.
By the end of 20 13, there were more than 2.98 million paper documents and more than 3,000 paper periodicals. The library is rich in electronic resources, with 72 databases, including 22 databases built by Hunan University Digital Library. 7 self-built databases, including Mao Zedong Digital Library and Red Tourism Resources Database.
Among them, there are 6.5438+0.202 million kinds of e-books, more than 2.88 million master's and doctoral dissertations, and 63,000 kinds of electronic periodicals in Chinese and foreign languages. It has a special Mao Zedong research literature library and a Hunan adult library. Yongzheng copper movable-type edition "The Collection of Ancient and Modern Books", with 528 copies, 6 1 17, is a rare rare rare edition in China.
