Relevant provisions in the Regulations on the Administration of Students in Colleges and Universities promulgated by the Ministry of Education in 2005:
Twenty-ninth college students who have dropped out of school should go through the formalities of dropping out of school according to the time limit stipulated by the school, and their files and accounts should be returned to the place where their families are registered.
Thirty-fourth students who have dropped out of school for more than one academic year shall be issued with a junior college diploma.
Universities also have their own regulations on dropping out of school, but they are all subject to the regulations of the Ministry of Education. For example, Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications student status management measures:
Thirty-second students who have been approved to leave school must go through the formalities and leave school within one week, and their files and accounts should be returned to the place where their families are registered. The school is not responsible for solving the placement problem after dropping out of school.
Provisions of Peking University Municipality on the Administration of Student Status:
Twenty-seventh follow-up matters for students to drop out of school shall be handled in accordance with the following provisions:
( 1)
Students who have dropped out of school must go through the formalities of dropping out of school within two weeks from the date of delivery or announcement of the decision to drop out of school, and their files and accounts will be returned to the place where their family residence is located.
(2)
If a dropout fails to go through the formalities of leaving school within the time limit, the relevant departments of the school will cancel their various relationships at school and will not issue a permit.
(three) students who have dropped out of school may not apply for resumption of study.
The above provisions explain that once retirement takes effect, students who have already gone through the formalities of dropping out of school have nothing to do with the school, so "the school is not responsible for solving the resettlement problem after dropping out of school" and "students who have dropped out of school may not apply for resumption of school". The rules of every school are similar.
