The school is located in Changchun, formerly known as Jilin Overseas Chinese Foreign Languages Institute, 1995. In 2003, it was upgraded to an undergraduate college, and was renamed Jilin International Studies University on 20 18.

Jilin International Studies University has English, Japanese, German, French, Korean, Russian and Spanish 15 foreign languages, 2 Sino-foreign cooperative education programs and 36 undergraduate majors.
