It is a great honor to be here today to express the pride and determination of the soldiers on behalf of the six recruits who are about to go to the military camp in our hospital. On the occasion of parting, we have many heartfelt words to say to the party and the motherland, to leaders, to teachers, to relatives and friends. Like the other five students, becoming a real soldier has always been my sacred ideal. When I was very young, I had such an ideal: put on a mighty military uniform and be a national guard. The dream of joining the army has been integrated into my blood, into my every cell, and it has become a surging wave in my heart all the time.
Today, 2009. 12.9 coincides with the 74th anniversary of the December 9th Movement. Imagine that 74 years ago, at the most critical moment of the Chinese nation, the Red Army completed the great Long March, and students launched a great national salvation movement in Peiping. Both of them are fighting for the liberation of the nation and people, and their direct significance is to promote War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and defend national independence and national sovereignty. Young students in China have a fine tradition, that is, in the face of national justice, they shoulder the heavy responsibility of national rise and fall and set off a huge wave of national self-improvement. This spirit also encourages us to join the army and serve the country with pens.
At present, China enjoys political stability, economic development and social progress, the people live and work in peace and contentment, its comprehensive national strength is increasing day by day, and its international status is constantly improving. However, we should be prepared for danger in times of peace, enhance our sense of hardship and maintain high vigilance. The country is unprepared and the people are restless. Only by earnestly strengthening national defense and army building and enhancing national defense strength can we ensure national security, stability and maintenance.
