Zhengzhou University, referred to as "Zheng Da", is located in Zhengzhou City, Henan Province. It is a university jointly established by the people of China, the Ministry of Education and the People's Government of Henan Province. It is a national "double-class" university with "2 1 1 project".

Medical education in Zhengzhou University originated from Sun Yat-sen University in Henan in 1928, and Henan Medical College was established independently in 1952, which opened the precedent of medical higher education in Henan. Zhengzhou University, founded in 1956, is the first comprehensive university established in New China. It was listed in the national "2 1 1 project" in 1996.

Zhengzhou University of Technology, founded in 1963, is a key university directly under the former Ministry of Chemical Industry. In July 2000, the former Zhengzhou University, Zhengzhou University of Technology and Henan Medical University merged to form the new Zhengzhou University.

As of July 2023, the school has more than 4,500 full-time teachers (including full-time scientific research), including 24 academicians of the two academies and members of the department, 13 winners of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, 12 winners of the Changjiang Scholar Award Program and 25 other national leading talents.

There are 46 national-level young talents such as You Ching and Changqing, 27 candidates for the national "100 million talents project" and 808 professors. Among the full-time teachers, 77.4% have doctorates, forming a high-level faculty led by academicians and academic masters, with "Jieqing" and "Changjiang" as academic leaders.
