Lanzhou University has four world-class construction disciplines, eight national key disciplines and two national key disciplines. In the fourth round of discipline evaluation, Lanzhou University has 1A+ (Grass), 1A (Ecology) and 8B+ (Ethnology, Marxist Theory, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography and Public Administration).
Wuhan University of Technology has only 1 first-class construction discipline, 2 national key disciplines, 7 key two disciplines disciplines and 1 national key cultivation discipline (mineral processing engineering). In the fourth round of discipline evaluation, Wuhan University of Technology got A+ in materials science and engineering, and B+ in mechanical engineering, transportation engineering, design and Marxist theory.

The school strives to build a discipline system with complete categories, reasonable structure and distinctive features in accordance with the discipline development idea of "prospering literature, enriching subjects, expanding industries, prospering agriculture and strengthening medicine".
It is the first batch of universities in China with the right to award bachelor's, master's and doctor's degrees, and also the first batch of universities to establish postdoctoral research mobile stations. At present, there are 47 first-level disciplines authorized by master's degree, 25 first-level disciplines authorized by doctor's degree, 2 1 master's degree authorization type, 1 doctor's degree authorization type, covering 12 disciplines. It is one of the universities with degree authorization and independent audit.
