Underwood International College: In order to meet the high demand for global education at home and abroad, and to show the new development model of Korean universities, Yonsei University established Underwood International College. This college is the earliest single-subject college in China that teaches in English. As of 2008, Underwood International College has six majors, including liberal arts and literature, economics, international studies, life engineering, political diplomacy and comprehensive IT fields. This provides opportunities for foreign students and overseas Koreans who are difficult to contact with Korean history and culture to study Korean studies as their second major, and provides conditions for them to deepen their understanding of Korea. In order to train students to master the basic knowledge that meets the requirements of the future society, Underwood International College spent a year studying world literature, world history, writing courses and public courses, so that they can have the most basic qualities as elites. After entering the second grade, students choose their own majors and receive training in the discussion courses provided by Underwood International College, so as to cultivate students' TWR (thinking, creation and research) talents and become talents in the international era. In order to provide a better teaching environment for students, Underwood International College implements a small-scale classroom teaching mode of 20~30 students, and improves the teaching quality with a reasonable teacher-student ratio. In addition, Underwood International College actively recommends learning opportunities for students from overseas exchange universities, and provides students with opportunities to contact, seek advice and feel with Nobel Prize winners and other well-known overseas scholars through academic conferences for outstanding scholars. As of March 2008, Underwood International College has enrolled 12 full-time foreign teachers and 65 outstanding international students from 17 countries around the world.
