Inner Mongolia Agricultural University, formerly known as Inner Mongolia Animal Husbandry and Veterinary College, was established when the former Hebei Agricultural College, the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department of Pingyuan Agricultural College and the Veterinary Department of Shanxi Agricultural College moved to Guisui (now Hohhot) 1952.
1958, Inner Mongolia Forestry College was established.
1960, Inner Mongolia College of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine was renamed Inner Mongolia College of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry.
65438-0999 Inner Mongolia Agricultural College and Inner Mongolia Forestry College merged to form Inner Mongolia Agricultural University.
The school has 22 colleges (departments) including College of Animal Science, College of Veterinary Medicine, College of Agriculture, College of Forestry, College of Ecological Environment, College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, College of Water Conservancy and Civil Engineering, College of Materials Science and Art Design, College of school of economics and management, College of Food Science and Engineering, College of Computer and Information Engineering, College of Life Sciences, College of Humanities and Social Sciences, College of Vocational Technology and Department of Physical Education. Among them, the Vocational and Technical College of Inner Mongolia Agricultural University is a national model college of higher vocational education.
