The Importance of Learning Chinese in Universities
Without paying attention to improving students' humanistic quality and blindly teaching students practical knowledge, it is possible to train students into working machines. This is the sorrow of higher education!

Literature is the nutrient of human thought, and art is the purifying agent of human soul. People who don't know literature are bound to lack oxygen, while people who don't know art are easily swallowed up by secular thoughts.

Literature can give people passion for life, and poetry can give people inspiration for creation. A person with poor literary literacy must have poor innovation ability. Throughout the history of human development, no matter whether it is a giant of science or a master of thought, anyone who can make great achievements benefits from a solid knowledge of Chinese.

Literature can enrich people's inner world, broaden people's minds, broaden people's horizons and make people's thinking more creative.

Literature can enhance people's imagination and association ability, and ultimately enhance people's creativity.

Literature can make people strong, and art can make people elegant. Literature is the foundation of art, and with the improvement of literary literacy, artistic literacy will also improve. Literary literacy is the core of humanistic literacy, which not only determines a person's survival and quality of life, but also affects his creativity.

Literature can give people a progressive force, make people love life, learn to live and live better.

Poetic beauty permeates all fields: architecture is a "three-dimensional poem", dance is a "smart poem" and music is a "symphonic poem" ... Not only that, all creative technologies are permeated with poetic beauty, and cars with poetic beauty will be widely loved by people. In this sense, China's manufacturing industry will surpass the world's advanced level, which largely depends on the artistic quality of technicians.

Literature can make people happy, nourish nature and improve intelligence. Literary literacy is the cornerstone of people's comprehensive literacy. If a university can't even cultivate students' basic literary and cultural literacy, what can it say about the quality of talent training?

The lack of literary literacy will not only lead to the lack of people's thinking, but also lead to the defects of people's creative ability.

The primary task of university education is to improve students' personality, endow them with the spirit of continuous progress and cultivate their lifelong learning ability. These are more important than teaching students practical knowledge and cultivating their practical skills.

Language is a tool for learning all knowledge. The ability to use language directly determines a person's learning ability. People who can't even master their mother tongue well can hardly make great achievements in science.

Language is the shell of thinking, and the development of language ability directly promotes the development of human thinking ability.

It is a short-term educational behavior to blindly emphasize the teaching of practical technology and the cultivation of practical skills, which is extremely irresponsible for students' lifelong development.

Generally speaking, college Chinese is the most important course in universities. This course plays an irreplaceable role in students' learning life, life, knowledge and creation. The lack of college language and literature courses has left many shortcomings for students' life, study and work after entering the society.

It is no exaggeration to say that institutions that do not offer college Chinese courses are extremely irresponsible to students; Principals who don't pay attention to college Chinese teaching or even order to cut college Chinese classes are irresponsible principals for students' lifelong development.

At present, there are also some colleges and universities that cut college Chinese courses and offer so-called "humanistic quality education" courses. This is really a ridiculous thing. Language ability and literary accomplishment are the core and cornerstone of humanistic accomplishment. Without the cultivation of language ability and literary accomplishment, where can we talk about humanistic quality? Compared with philosophy, history, ethics and art, college Chinese is the best humanities course. To really improve students' humanistic quality, we must first offer a good college Chinese course.

At present, people don't know enough about the importance of college Chinese course. There are many reasons. First of all, since the college Chinese curriculum was generally offered in 1980s, there has been a lack of scientific and systematic research on the nature and tasks of college Chinese curriculum, and the orientation of college Chinese curriculum has been ambiguous. Basic courses, public * * * courses, elective courses ... have their own opinions; "make up lessons", "tools" and "humanities" ... have their own opinions. Second, there are too many problems in the construction of teaching materials, which seriously restricts the function of college Chinese course and gives people the illusion that this course seems dispensable. At present, there are more than 120 versions of college Chinese textbooks published in China, of which at least 90% are unqualified. More than half of the textbooks have more than 100 mistakes in a book, and some even have as many as four or five hundred mistakes. What's more, all kinds of problems are very serious, the teaching materials are vague, the ideas are thin, and the standardization of text selection is poor. Thirdly, because many colleges and universities did not offer college Chinese courses in the past, although some colleges and universities did, the class hours allocated to college Chinese courses were few, which did not reflect the great role of this course in the formation of students' ideological and moral character, the improvement of thinking quality and the cultivation of aesthetic ability. In fact, since 1980s, some universities have offered college Chinese courses and achieved good results.

Everyone engaged in higher education should clearly realize that college Chinese is a basic course and a compulsory course for all majors in colleges and universities (except Chinese language and literature); College Chinese course plays an irreplaceable role in cultivating students' learning ability, perfecting students' personality, improving students' thinking quality, cultivating students' aesthetic taste and improving students' humanistic quality. To sum up, college Chinese course has the following functions for students' knowledge, life and lifelong development:

First, cultivate students' lifelong learning ability. Lifelong learning ability is the most important ability in everyone's life. No matter how good a university is, it is impossible to teach students all the knowledge they need all their lives, let alone cultivate all the abilities they need all their lives. Especially with the acceleration of knowledge updating and the emergence of new technologies, lifelong learning ability is more important for science and engineering students.
