Shandong University Weihai Branch), founded in 1984, is located in the beautiful coastal city of Weihai. It is a multidisciplinary, open and comprehensive national key university campus jointly established by Shandong University and Weihai Municipal People's Government, and it is one of the longest university campuses in Shanghai in the world. Its birth created a precedent for domestic famous schools to run schools in different places.

Students in our school will receive a diploma issued by Shandong University after completing their studies. At the same time, more than 1 1% of fresh graduates are recommended to the national "2 1 1 project" and "985 project" universities and national scientific research institutes for postgraduate study.

As of February, 2023, the school covers an area of 1.6 million mu, with 1.7 million books in Chinese and foreign languages and more than 200 electronic literature databases in Chinese and foreign languages. At present, there are 12 colleges and 1 teaching department, covering eight disciplines such as arts, law, economics, management, science, engineering and medicine, with 37 undergraduate enrollment majors.

Twenty-four first-level disciplines can recruit graduate students, 18 first-level disciplines can recruit doctoral students, and 17 first-level disciplines can recruit postdoctoral students. At present, there are more than 3500 full-time undergraduates/kloc-0, more than 300 international students and more than 2500 doctoral students. There are more than 0/200 faculty members/KLOC, including 0/70 senior professional technicians and 372 deputy senior professional technicians. There are more than 500 tutors for doctoral and master students.

On April 7th, 20 12, the unveiling ceremony of "Weihai Joint Observatory of Shandong University and Space Target and Debris Observation Research Center of China Academy of Sciences" was held in the school observatory. Yan Jun, chief scientist of the space debris expert group of the National Defense Science and Technology Bureau, Yang Ji, director of Purple Mountain Observatory of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Wang Yi, executive deputy commander of the space debris monitoring and early warning system of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and other leaders attended the ceremony.
