Inner Mongolia University of Finance and Economics, founded in 1960, is the only independent full-time general higher financial institution in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. As of May, 20 14, it has become a multi-disciplinary university of finance and economics with distinctive national and regional characteristics, which focuses on economic management, the coordinated development of science, law, engineering and literature, and the undergraduate education. The school 1997 passed the undergraduate teaching qualification evaluation of the former State Education Commission, and obtained the good evaluation result of the undergraduate teaching level evaluation of the Ministry of Education in 2006. 20 12 was renamed Inner Mongolia University of Finance and Economics with the approval of the Ministry of Education.

As of May 20 14, the school covers an area of 2,026.9 mu, with a total construction area of 570,000 square meters and 22,000 students. In 20 13, Inner Mongolia University of Finance and Economics, University of Science and Technology Beijing, Nankai University, Harbin Institute of Technology, Shandong University, Southwest University and other universities were awarded the title of "2012/2013 National Typical Experience University for Graduate Employment", becoming one of the 50 universities in China.
