In recent years, China's engineering education has faced a series of challenges and been criticized as an armchair strategist. It is often difficult for students to adapt to the actual work needs after graduation. This paper analyzes the present situation of engineering education in China from the aspects of education mode, teacher training, curriculum setting and practical links, and puts forward some suggestions for improving engineering education.

Problem-oriented teaching mode

At present, China's engineering education pays too much attention to the instillation of theoretical knowledge and ignores the cultivation of practical ability. We should advocate problem-oriented teaching mode and encourage students to actively explore and solve practical problems.

Strengthen the construction of teaching staff

Excellent teaching staff is an important guarantee to ensure the quality of engineering education. We should strengthen the training of engineering teachers and improve their teaching ability and practical experience.

Optimize curriculum

At present, the engineering curriculum is too theoretical and divorced from the needs of practical work. We should pay attention to cultivating students' engineering practice ability, increase the proportion of experimental courses and practical projects, let students contact with real engineering problems in class and improve their problem-solving ability.
