On June 8, 2008, Yu, Chairman of The Politburo Standing Committee (PSC) and Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference of the Communist Party of China, cordially met with the representatives of the Sixth National Conference on Ethnic Education and took a group photo with them. On behalf of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, he expressed warm congratulations on the convening of the conference, and expressed high respect and heartfelt thanks to the teaching and administrative staff who have been struggling in the front line of ethnic education for a long time and people from all walks of life who care about and support ethnic education.

Yu pointed out that the CPC Central Committee and the State Council have always attached great importance to the development of ethnic education. Since the Fifth National Conference on Ethnic Education, especially since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, ethnic education has flourished and made great achievements, making important contributions to promoting ethnic unity and progress and achieving common prosperity and development. At the same time, we should also be soberly aware that education in ethnic minorities and ethnic areas still faces some difficulties and problems, and the task of accelerating the development of ethnic education is still arduous.
