Marriage and family counselor is one of the top ten popular occupations in China in the new century. The related occupations of marriage and family counselors and psychological counselors in China have great potential and broad development prospects. Experts generally believe that China's marriage and family psychological counseling industry has great employment potential, and psychological counselors are also a respected profession with huge development space.
Marriage and family counselor, also known as marriage and emotional counselor, is a person who comprehensively uses professional knowledge in sociology, psychology, law, sexual medicine, family education, ethics, social work and other fields to provide family member relationship counseling services such as love spouse selection counseling, husband-wife relationship counseling, parent-child relationship counseling, family conflict counseling and so on for people who encounter various problems in love, marriage and family life.
From June 5, 2008 to1October 2, 2008, the Ministry of Labor and Social Security issued 26 national occupational standards, including marriage and family counselors, to the labor and social security departments (bureaus) of all provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government and the labor security institutions of relevant departments in the State Council. Among them, the National Professional Standard for Marriage Emotional Counselors was compiled and formulated by the China Marriage Emotional Research Association of the All-China Women's Federation for 7 months.
With the enhancement of women's self-awareness, the annual marriage rate has decreased year by year, while the divorce rate has increased year by year. The 14th Five-Year Plan for the Development of Civil Affairs jointly compiled by the Ministry of Civil Affairs and the National Development and Reform Commission requires the establishment of a marriage and family service mechanism.
Focus on setting up marriage and family counseling rooms (marriage and family dispute mediation rooms) and professional posts of social workers in county (city, district) level marriage registration offices, introducing professional social workers to provide emotional communication, psychological counseling, relationship repair, dispute mediation and other services for needy marriage parties, so as to improve the comprehensive ability and quality of marriage parties in maintaining marriage and family.
