Honda's 1.5T engine

The technology is very advanced.

Speaking of engines, let's talk about Honda first. Isn't that "buy an engine and send a car"? Right?

Honda's 1.5T4-cylinder engine, code-named L 15B, is also divided into many small models.

Civic's 1.5T is L15b8; ; CRV is l15bl; ; Accord high power is l15bn; ; UR-V is above L 15BD; ; Jed is L 15BF. Anyway, the big family is the L 15B series.

Although they are all L 15B series engines, there is actually a little difference. For example, the maximum horsepower 156 and the maximum horsepower 194 are very different.

The L 15B8 engine carried by the 10th Civic is Honda's 1 model 1.5T Earth Dream engine, and it is also a 1 generation L 15B engine.

This L 15B8 has a maximum horsepower 177 horsepower and a maximum torque of 220Nm. This engine does not use VTEC, which Honda is proud of.

Nevertheless, the performance and fuel economy of this engine are excellent in its class.

The highest thermal efficiency of this engine reached 38%, which also laid the foundation for low fuel consumption. This engine also adopts the dual VTC system of intake and exhaust, which has low fuel consumption and relatively stronger power.

The full name of VTC is "variable timing control", and the effect is good. We don't refer to what it says. We refer to the article "Honda i-VTEC system principle and maintenance method" in Volkswagen magazine.

VTC system can automatically advance or delay the opening time of intake valve and exhaust valve according to different rotational speeds, so as to achieve the purpose of continuously adjusting valve timing.

In this way, the engine can get the maximum air intake under the performance condition, thus generating strong power, and it can also have better fuel economy under daily working conditions.

1.5T engine with VTEC

L 15B8 doesn't use VTCE, and L 15BN of 10 Accord is used, which is the second generation L 15B engine with better performance parameters.

L 15BN maximum horsepower 194 and maximum torque of 260Nm, which is better than many 2.0T cars on the market.

For example, the maximum horsepower of the 2020 BMW 325 is only 184.

This engine not only has dual VTCs, but also adopts VTEC technology at the exhaust end. The combination of the two has better power and lower fuel consumption.

But also added some brand-new gadgets, such as CCS engine warm-up system, brand-new fuel injection and ignition system.

All kinds of small things have been made, and new configurations have been added, which has stronger power and lower fuel consumption.

Generally speaking, Honda, which buys an engine and sends a car, still works.

Mitsubishi's 1.5T engine

Let me talk about Mitsubishi again. Mitsubishi is the "first teacher" of domestic car companies. Most cars are not domestic shells, the heart of Mitsubishi, are they?

Mitsubishi's 1.5T4-cylinder engine, code 4B40, has maximum horsepower 170 horsepower and maximum torque of 250Nm. The data can't compare with Honda, but it's not bad. It looks good.

From a technical point of view, it is a rare engine with mixed injection technology in its class.

There is a paper in the journal Forestry Machinery and Woodworking Equipment, which mentioned the development and application of fuel injection technology for modern gasoline engines.

In fact, mixed injection means that the engine has two fuel injection systems. When the load is low, manifold injection is used to realize stratified combustion, and when the load is high, it will automatically switch to in-cylinder direct injection to improve the working efficiency of the engine.

Direct injection in cylinder, have you all heard of it? Just spray it directly to increase the pressure, and the atomization is more detailed. Anyway, it is more powerful and more fuel-efficient.

However, the nozzle of the traditional in-cylinder direct injection engine is located at the right top or side top of the combustion chamber.

Injecting fuel at the end of the compression stroke will lead to insufficient combustion at low speed, easier carbon deposition and higher fuel consumption.

Therefore, this engine can provide good fuel economy and output good power at the same time, so both designs are quite good.

In addition, this engine adopts all-aluminum lightweight design, comes standard with MIVEC (Intelligent Variable Valve Timing and Lift Control System), and also uses a high-precision crankshaft.

Generally speaking, this engine has very good performance and good reliability.

To sum up, it is "three good students". You don't have to be a big boss or a big leader after graduation. Everybody loves it anyway.

Honda and Mitsubishi, which use 1.5T, are both technical experts.

Japanese brand 1.5T is temporarily parked here, and there is one reason for the limited time. Another reason is that up to now, only Honda and Mitsubishi are using domestic 1.5t engines.
