In 2002, Professor Yao Jianping established the Laboratory of Microwave Photonics in the University of Ottawa, and his research mainly focused on microwave photonics. The main research contents include photonics processing of microwave signal, photonics generation of microwave/millimeter wave/terahertz signal, optical fiber radio technology, optical fiber ultra-wideband technology and optically controlled phased array antenna. He also dabbled in fiber lasers, fiber and waveguide Bragg gratings, fiber sensors and biophotonics.
