Should the preface and table of contents be paginated?
There is no need to set page numbers for the cover and table of contents. If you want to set the page number, please insert section break before the preface, and then insert the page number. In the page number format setting, set the starting value of the page number to 1. Then disconnect the "link to the previous section header" option, and the preface can be paginated.

If there is no page number, the method is as follows:

1. Place the mouse before the first line of the body page (your third page), click the insert delimiter, select the next page in section break type, and then press OK. (At this point, a blank page will be automatically added before the text. If the table of contents has not been generated, this page can be used as a table of contents page; If you don't need it, press the main keyboard to Delete it, and don't use the delete key to delete it);

2. Place the mouse on the first page of the text and click View-Header and Footer to display the header and footer toolbars. 3. Switch to the footer status, click the "Link to the previous section" icon in the "Header and Footer" toolbar, uncheck this icon, and the words "Same as the previous section" in the upper right corner of the footer will disappear.

4. Click "Insert-Page Number" to pop up the page number dialog box, and then click the "Format" button above to pop up the page number format dialog box.

Set, select the "Start Page Number" option below, and "1" will be displayed by default (the number here is the page number displayed on the first page of the text), and then click OK to exit. Save it, okay?
