Reflections on folk songs
Reluctantly, I came into contact with some folk songs with local colors in elective courses. After coming back, I ate in the restaurant, with music in my ear. That string of rich or broad-minded tones made me think a lot. China is a very mysterious country. The things and traditions of some ethnic groups have incalculable charm in themselves. In the vicissitudes of history, the wind and rain have not diminished the charm when they first came, and preserved the development accumulation and unique charm of China for 5,000 years. The customs of Yunnan-Guizhou mountainous area are interpreted in an unusual way among the ethnic minorities who live in compact communities: Miao girls who sing and dance convey the beautiful scenery and simple folk customs of this nation with their tender and distant songs, and there are many expectations and hopes for life brewing in the basin held by Dai people, old and young, and many ethnic minorities whose names I can't name are also showing their unique life attitudes. Wet bamboo houses, warm hillsides, lively villages and other places where there are songs and dances, all of which made me suddenly shocked by my ignorance-folk songs have its unique charm. It is a kind of sorrow not to appreciate. Or maybe I was too self-centered to stop and look. This part is my later attachment. In the past, I only knew Pu Shu, Xu Wei, Shui Mu Nianhua and Asan. I only knew that when I was insomnia at night, I plugged headphones to listen to their low and desolate voices and interpreted my depression or bitterness in the melody of being half asleep and half awake. Now I come across these sounds of nature by chance, and I really can't ignore the inner shock. Compared with the folk songs in Yunnan-Guizhou mountainous area, I prefer the long and complicated singing method of Humai in Inner Mongolia prairie. Perhaps because of the terrain, the folk songs in Inner Mongolia convey a vastness without any obstacles, which is too vigorous to be described in words, too strong and irresistible. This is a very primitive life infiltration. I can only stop everything in my hand and immerse myself in the melody in the huge amphitheatre, because at that time, any language was redundant. I have no professional knowledge of music, no singing skills, and no investigation of folk songs, just because I can't forget what shocked my soul at that time. However, the bitterness or sadness revealed in folk songs in northern Shaanxi is still very clear. I feel that this land is primitive, backward, immature and simple, and the sad tone is full of helplessness in living on the yellow land. The vicissitudes of life are full of hardships and difficulties in life, but their hearts are pure and immature and have not been corroded and buried by modern society. Some slightly vulgar and shallow lyrics will make people laugh, so I can't say whether it was pity or sympathy at that time. It's very simple. In contrast, the rich northeast, the three treasures famous for ginseng, mink and velvet antler, the good crops growing on the black land and the special products appearing in the virgin forest have also infected the folk songs there with the joyful rhythm. This may be one side of the soil and water to support one side, and one side of the soil and water to cast one side. Anyway, I'm glad I found the feeling of liking these folk songs. These cultures with national charm are still very close to me. It is very gratifying to find this cultural expectation in the fast pace of modernization. I don't want these melodies to melt into my soul, because I can't do it either, but I pray that the wealth of these ethnic groups can keep its original color in the rolling history, and it will last forever and never disappear.
