The shortage of transportation capacity and the incompatibility between transportation supply and transportation demand are practical problems that everyone knows. With the development of economy and transportation, transportation not only provides services for the total economic supply and total demand of a region, but also serves more and more widely, thus the urban transportation demand tends to be diversified.

This paper analyzes the increasingly serious double imbalance between the total amount and structure of urban traffic demand and supply brought by the rapid economic development in China at the present stage, and makes in-depth research and analysis on urban traffic demand and supply from the aspects of resources, environment, construction and urban space in combination with the actual situation, and then puts forward that road traffic needs a reasonable development degree. On the basis of making full use of existing resources, we should fully consider all kinds of unfavorable factors and make it a process of coordinating the interests and goals of all parties, which needs to be analyzed and handled with the viewpoint and method of modern large-scale system. Finally, the balance between urban traffic demand and supply will be completed.
