Pharmaceutical engineering is an interdisciplinary engineering specialty of chemistry, pharmacy (traditional Chinese medicine) and engineering, aiming at cultivating talents engaged in drug manufacturing, development, amplification and design of new processes, new equipment and new varieties. This name officially appeared in the catalog of undergraduate majors of the Ministry of Education, and it is 1998. Although the name of pharmaceutical engineering specialty is new, it is not brand-new from the perspective of discipline evolution, but a continuation of similar majors. It is also the product of the development of science and technology in China in a certain period. There are more than 100 colleges and universities in China offering pharmaceutical engineering majors. If each major enrolls 60 students, more than 6,000 pharmaceutical engineering graduates will enter the society every year. In 2003, students enrolled in the name of pharmaceutical engineering major have gone to the society. The number of the first graduates is small, and the overall employment rate is not bad. The second graduates in 2004 have also graduated, and the employment situation is very good. Some of them have entered the postgraduate stage, and few have studied abroad, but most of them have worked in various positions in China, mainly in enterprises, universities, scientific research institutions and other industries. Judging from the degree of professional counterparts, most students are engaged in jobs related to "medicine", but a certain proportion of students have gone to jobs unrelated to their majors.
