The earliest interchange overpass in Beijing is Fuxingmen overpass built by 1974, and Jianguomen overpass built by 1979 is the first three-storey overpass with complete branches of motor vehicles and non-motor vehicles in China, which indicates that China, known as the "country of bicycles", has taken a solid step in road overpass design technology.

On the Third Ring Road in Beijing, Dazhongsi Bridge, Jimen Bridge, North Taiping Bridge, Madian Bridge, Anhua Bridge, Anzhen Bridge, Sanyuan Bridge, Yansha Bridge and Guo Mao Bridge stand upright and tightly surround Beijing.
