The College of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry of Tibet University (formerly Tibet College of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry) is the only institution of higher learning in Xizang Autonomous Region that integrates the disciplines of agriculture, animal husbandry, forestry and hydropower, and has the qualification of awarding bachelor's and master's degrees. College was founded in 197 1, formerly known as Linzhi branch of Tibet University for Nationalities. 1978 was named "Tibet Agriculture and Animal Husbandry College" with the approval of the State Council; In September of 200 1 year, it merged with the former Tibet University to form the new Tibet University. At present, the two universities are in a "running-in period". At present, there are seven teaching and research units, including the Department of Plant Science and Technology, the Department of Animal Science and Technology, the Department of Resources and Environmental Science, the Department of Water Conservancy, Electric Power and Civil Engineering, the Department of Public Education, the Department of Adult Education and the Tibet Plateau Ecological Research Institute.
