The only institutions of higher learning directly under the Ministry of Transport are Dalian Maritime University. The eight universities established by the Ministry of Communications are Wuhan University of Technology, Chang 'an University, Shanghai Maritime University, Changsha University of Science and Technology, Chongqing Jiaotong University, Shandong Jiaotong University, Jimei University and Nantong University.

1, Shanghai Maritime University

Founded in the late Qing Dynasty and early Republic of China1July, 909, the school is the Department of Shipping Management of Shanghai College and the birthplace of higher maritime education in China. It has passed through the Higher Merchant Shipping School of the Ministry of Postal Communication, Wusong Merchant Shipping College of the Ministry of Communications and Chongqing Merchant Shipping College.

The school was originally a university directly under the Ministry of Transport. In 2000, it was placed under the management of Shanghai.

2. Chongqing Jiaotong University

Chongqing Jiaotong University, founded in 195 1, is a teaching and research university with a multi-level talent training system of "bachelor-master-doctor", which focuses on engineering, management, science, economics, literature, art and law and has obvious transportation characteristics and advantages.

3. Wuhan University of Technology

Wuhan University of Technology is a national key science and engineering university directly under the Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China (PRC). The first batch of key universities in China are "21/project" and "special 985 project", which are "11plan", "excellent engineer education and training plan" and "overseas high schools" respectively.

4. Changsha University of Science and Technology

Changsha University of Science and Technology is a provincial-level key university jointly established by the Hunan Provincial People's Government and the Ministry of Transport, an excellent engineer education and training program of the Ministry of Education, an engineering university for basic capacity building in central and western universities, one of the six universities in the "Green Transportation Alliance", one of the "UHV Scholarships" universities in power enterprises and power industries, an excellent university for undergraduate teaching level evaluation of the Ministry of Education, and a university with typical experience in employment of graduates of the Ministry of Education. The school has Post-Doctoral Research Center, the right to confer doctoral degrees and the right to exempt master students from exams.

5. Chang 'an University

Chang 'an University is a national key university directly under the people of China and the Ministry of Education. It is jointly established by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Land and Resources, the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development and the Shaanxi Provincial People's Government. It is the first batch of "21/engineering", "985 engineering advantage discipline innovation platform" and "168".
