Zhengzhou University (ZZU for short) was founded by the People's Government of Henan Province, and its legal address is No.0/00, Science Avenue, Zhengzhou City, Henan Province. The school covers a total area of 6 100 mu, and its main campus is located in the west campus of Science Avenue 100, No.75 North University Road, No.97 Wenhua Road, No.40 North University Road and Science Avenue 157. Modern Manufacturing Henan Laboratory (Luoyang) is located at No.6 Zhoushan Avenue, Luoyang. The school enrolls students for the whole country. There are more than 44,000 full-time undergraduates, 26,000 graduate students and 2,700 international students from 96 countries.

Zhengzhou University is a national "2 1 1 project" key construction university, a world-class university construction university, and a "Ministry-province joint construction" university. The former Zhengzhou University, founded in 1956, is the first comprehensive university founded in New China. The 1 1 project is listed in the national "2 1996 project". Zhengzhou University of Technology was founded in 1963, formerly known as Zhengzhou Institute of Technology, and 1996 was renamed Zhengzhou University of Technology. It is a key institution directly under the former Ministry of Chemical Industry. In July 2000, the former Zhengzhou University, Zhengzhou University of Technology and Henan Medical University merged to form the new Zhengzhou University.
