Cardiff University (English: Cardiff University, Wales: Prifysgol Caerdydd) is a comprehensive research university located in Cardiff, Wales, England. It is a member of GW4 Alliance, Russell University Group and International Applied Science and Technology Development Cooperation Network.

The school was formerly the University College of South Wales and Monmouth County, which was established in 1883. 1884 was granted the Royal Charter, 1893 became one of the founding members of the University of Wales Alliance, 1972 was renamed Cardiff University College, 1988 merged with the University of Wales College of Science and Technology, and merged with the University of Wales in 2004.

University major

Cardiff University has three colleges, namely, the College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences, the College of Biomedicine and Life Sciences, and the College of Physics and Engineering. The School of Physics and Engineering consists of schools of architecture, chemistry, computer science and information, earth and ocean, engineering, mathematics, physics and astronomy. The School of Earth and Ocean Sciences of Cardiff University was founded in 189 1, and it is one of the earliest schools in Cardiff University.
