Shaanxi Normal University is the first batch of pilot universities and the first batch of authorized units for doctoral and master's degrees in the national education system reform. Founded in 1944, formerly known as the Education Department of Shaanxi Normal University and the College of Literature of Northwest University, 1954 was named xi 'an Normal University. 1960, Shaanxi Normal University merged with Shaanxi Normal University. One of the seven undergraduate colleges directly under the Ministry of Ordnance Industry of the People's Republic of China (referred to as "Seven Soldiers" for short) was jointly established by the State Bureau of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense, China Ordnance Industry Group and Shaanxi Provincial Government.
