Little is known about neonatal care.
Newborns have poor digestion, respiration and thermoregulation, low resistance and easy infection. Breast milk is the best natural nutrition, and eating breast milk can prevent diseases. Children need to live in an environment with fresh air and suitable temperature. Smoking is prohibited indoors, and ventilation is frequent (avoid through flow). Room temperature is 20-24℃ and humidity is 50%-60%. Refuse to visit relatives and friends to avoid cross infection.

Keep warm to prevent infection.

Keeping the newborn warm and preventing infection are the key points. The skin is delicate, so keep it clean. Wash perineum and buttocks frequently. Try to take a bath every day. Wash the upper and lower parts of the body separately before the umbilical cord falls off, and use a basin bath after it falls off. It is advisable to use non-irritating soap and dry it with a soft towel after bathing. Should not be wiped, because it is easy to damage the epidermis.

Clothes should be soft and comfortable.

Clothes should be soft and comfortable, and should be changed every day. Keep your nostrils open. If there is runny nose, gently remove it with a cotton swab soaked in warm water, because newborns will not open their mouths to breathe because of nasal congestion, which will cause breathing difficulties.

Umbilical cord nursing

Good care of the umbilical cord can prevent infection, and the umbilical cord stump usually falls off 3- 10 days after birth. Umbilical cord is not covered with gauze, which is beneficial to its drying and shedding. Scrub navel and surrounding skin with 70% alcohol cotton swab, 1-2 times a day. Umbilical roots are wet when they just fall off, which is normal. They can be partially wiped with alcohol cotton to dry. If there is purulent secretion in the navel or the skin around the navel turns red, consult a doctor.
